The pricing places the bZ4X in the same arena as the Tesla Model Y, which boasts superior performance and claimed range. Even the base Model Y RWD has a range of 260 miles and can reach 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. To make matters worse, it’s practically the same price, at $43,990.
As a reminder, the XLE FWD has the best estimated range (252 miles), followed by the Limited FWD (236 miles), XLE AWD (228 miles), and Limited AWD (222 miles).
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E Select is cheaper still, at $42,995, and is capable of traveling 250 miles on a single charge. Then again, the bZ4X may appeal to brand-loyal customers who want to upgrade from a hybrid and don’t do long-distance driving. It’s worth noting that Subaru’s first-ever EV, the Solterra, is a rebadged version of the bZ4X.
All Toyota pricing listed here excludes the $1,350 delivery fee. The 2024 bZ4X is expected to reach dealerships this month.
