The newly revamped BMW 1 Series may not be sold in the US, but it’s one peppy car sold in other parts of the world, especially the top-dog M135. The first BMW to drop the “i” designation and the hot hatch cousin of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe available in the US has received a host of M Performance parts, showering the front-wheel-drive car with M badges.

While the M135 already looks aggressive on its own, the M Performance add-ons take the sporty styling up a notch, showcased through a promotional video by BMW. The add-ons include a front spoiler lip, aero flicks, side skirt extensions, carbon fiber mirror caps, rear diffuser, and a chunky roof spoiler with M Performance wordmark, which can raise eyebrows of non-believers of the smallest M-badged car.
No Performance Added Beyond The Looks
Other M Performance elements include black decals on the side. The four exits at the back are standard with the top-spec M135, but if you want extra pizzazz, BMW offers stainless steel and carbon fiber finishers for an added price. A bigger set of 19-inch two-tone M Performance wheels is also on offer, also with the M badging, which can also be ordered with M-branded valve stem caps.

As with other M Performance packages, the 1 Series won’t get any power boost with this upgrade. That means the M135 xDrive will retain its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot, making 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. These numbers should be good for a 0-60 mph sprint in under 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.
We Expect Them To Arrive For The M235
BMW hasn’t disclosed the pricing for its M Performance parts add-ons, though it should be noted that the M135 is already pricey on the other side of the pond, with a starting price of 56,200 euros or around $58,000 at current exchange rates. With all the options ticked, the M135 could cost over 70,000 euros ($72,600). The good news is, customers will have the option to purchase the parts à la carte.

It’s unclear whether these M Performance parts for the M135 will become available in the newly redesigned US-spec 2 Series Gran Coupe in its top M235 guise, but the BMW’s video teases its existence. BMW will likely showcase the upgrades, too, in a separate video to cater to its American customers who want to update the looks of their four-door Bimmer.
