Volkswagen has announced local specifications for the US-bound ID.7 electric sedan. Two trims, namely Pro S and Pro S Plus, will be offered to customers. Both models have an 82 kWh battery, with outputs totaling 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque for the RWD variants.
Later, VW will introduce all-wheel drive models with 335 hp, like the newly-introduced ID.7 GTX Tourer and ID. Buzz GTX. Whether US-spec models will receive the desirable GTX styling add-ons remains to be seen, but we certainly hope so.
As standard, all ID.7 models will receive 19-inch wheels, illuminated VW logos (front and rear), and power-folding exterior mirrors. A power-operated tailgate and keyless entry are also included in the package.
Long List Of Standard Features
Once you’re seated behind the wheel, you’ll find the cabin is littered with luxuries. For a start, the steering wheel and the 12-way adjustable seats (with memory) are heated. Three-zone climate control keeps occupants at the front and rear cool, while a panoramic glass roof lets natural light into the cabin.
A 15-inch infotainment screen controls all your entertainment needs, while the augmented reality head-up display provides the driver with all the necessary information. Should this not be enough, the Pro S Plus adds Climatronic seats with a massage feature, heating, and ventilation.

Other Pro S Plus goodies include an upgraded 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a trunk-mounted subwoofer, 20-inch wheels, and adaptive damping with dynamic steering.
As for personalization options, the exterior can be painted in several colors, including Aquamarine Blue, Glacier White, Moonstone Grey, Mythos Black, and Kings Red. The interior is available in Galaxy (black seats with white stitching) and Lunar (gray seats with contrast stitching).
The sedan GTX is yet to be revealed, but we assume this model will have superior specs compared to the Pro S and Pro S Plus.
Pricing And Range Estimates
Unfortunately, Volkswagen USA has not announced pricing or range estimates for the ID.7. However, early estimates suggest the ID.7 will have a starting price of around $50,000, which would make it considerably more expensive than the Tesla Model 3 ($38,990 before incentives), but on par with the Hyundai Ioniq 6 ($42,450).
As for range, WLTP estimates peg the range at 385 miles with a 77-kWh battery. We expect more conservative estimates, more in line with the ID.4, which can travel 291 miles on a single charge when equipped with the 82 kWh battery and RWD.
Volkswagen should launch the ID.7 in the second half of 2024. Before it reaches dealerships, expect pricing and range estimates to be shared. With any luck, VW would see fit to introduce the more practical Tourer body style in the US.
