Porsche 911 Dakar Completes 4,300-Mile Rally Expedition To The City It’s Named After

Even more impressive was that the person behind the tiller, the 911 Dakar’s owner, wasn’t a professional endurance driver. He’s just an aficionado of the dirt-loving Porsche, who took on the challenge of braving through semi-asphalted roads, dirt, sand, and very rough rocky bottoms. The whole trip covered a wide array of terrain and climates from the winter of the Alps to the ever-changing climate of the desert, with temperature variance of up to 86ºF within 12 hours.

Just as impressive as the driver, the Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain Plus tires that the 911 Dakar came from the factory with didn’t need replacement despite the abuse they took from the extraordinary road trip.

“A unique adventure, which would have certainly been very complicated without such valid tires. They always behaved exceptionally, even in very different conditions,” said Porsche Zentrum.
