‘Quick and easy’ hack to clean washing machine and remove odors

A ‘brilliant’ trick to clean your washing machine with just two things you have at home. Everyone loves a good cleaning tip, and now people who own their homes or rent them are looking for easy and cheap ways to make their places shine.

Mrs Hinch started the trend of budget cleaning tips, but now folks on social media are sharing their own ideas that work just as well.

Instagram user Kerrie Steadman, known as renovation_44 online, showed how she gets rid of bad smells in her washing machine and makes it look brand new. She uses two simple things you can find at home.

“The toothpaste is a bit abrasive, helping remove mold and the acid in lemon juice is naturally antibacterial and great at removing dirt and bacteria.”

People on Instagram really like this cleaning tip, and they say it’s a good way to save money instead of buying special cleaners for washing machines.

One person said: “This is far cheaper than buying washing machine cleaning fluids they sell!” Someone else mentioned: “I must try this!”

Some folks were wondering if you could do the same thing with a dishwasher, and Kerrie told her followers that it works. “Can you use this for dishwashers?” asked one user, and Kerrie answered: “Yes and white vinegar with bicarbonate of soda in there.”
