We’ve Got Bad News About The Toyota Supra

Key Takeaways

  • Toyota’s 2025 GR Supra lineup drops the 4-cylinder model, offering only 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims.
  • Prices increase slightly for both trims, starting at $56,250 for the 3.0 and $59,400 for the 3.0 Premium.
  • The 2025 model retains the Intelligent Manual Transmission no-cost option.

Toyota has officially announced its GR Supra lineup for the 2025 model year, and there’s one glaring omission in the range – the four-cylinder Supra is nowhere to be found. For the next model year, Toyota will only sell two trim levels: 3.0 and 3.0 Premium. This is bad news for those eyeing a brand-new Supra but can’t spend nearly $60,000 on a Toyota.

Worse, the 2025 Supra will be met with a price increase, albeit only slightly for both trims. The 3.0 version will be sold at a starting price of $56,250, while the 3.0 Premium has an MSRP of $59,400. This reflects an $850 increase from 2024. The prices mentioned here don’t include the mandatory $1,095 destination and handling fee.

Save The Manuals

Thankfully, Toyota is keeping the manuals alive for the 2025 model year, with the Intelligent Manual Transmission remaining a no-cost option. The only engine option, the turbocharged BMW B58 straight-six, still makes 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 sprint of 3.9 seconds in the AT version.

Introduced in 2021, the outgoing 2.0 four-cylinder Supra uses BMW’s B48 mill, which makes 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, significantly down from what the six-pot power plant makes. However, the four-pot version makes up for it with efficiency, with an EPA-estimated rating of 25/31/27 (city/highway/combined). The AT 3.0 Supra is rated at 23/31/26.

MY2025 Availability

Almost everything is carried over to the 2025 model year, including the Stratosphere (blue) paint color, hazelnut-colored leather, and the premium JBL speaker system. The 2025 Toyota GR Supra will be officially available later this year in the fall. That said, the 2.0 four-cylinder version is still available to order through the automaker’s online configurator until then.

The future of the Toyota GR Supra is uncertain at this point. A report from Germany surfaced a few months ago, saying that both the Supra and BMW Z4 will die in 2026. However, the automaker later confirmed that it will continue to build exciting cars, albeit with help from other automakers.
