The sports car enthusiast’s favorite Porsche 911 variant has returned, and it’s now even better. The 992.2 Porsche 911 Carrera T returns after a 2024 hiatus, arriving exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, and if our experience in the previous version is any indication, this will be a fine all-rounder. In coupe form, it’s the lightest 911 Carrera you can buy, which leads us to the next point: the 911 T is now available as a cabriolet for the first time. If this were a car from the GT division, we’d take issue with that decision, but since this is not a hardcore sports car, it’s actually a stroke of genius, increasing engagement and use case scenarios with minimal sacrifice.

New Looks
Like the updated 2025 911 Carrera and GTS, the 911 T has the latest headlight design and a set of fascias that keep it current. Where things differ is in the Vanadium Grey metallic paint on the wing mirrors, wheels, door decal, and rear badge. The 911 T also gets black stainless steel Sport Exhaust tips and rear side window decals indicating the manual shift pattern. In this writer’s opinion, that’s a little kitsch; how can fellow Porsche enthusiasts give each a knowing look if everybody knows?

In other ways, the visual clues are less obvious. The wheels, for example, are no longer finished only in accent color but mix the hue (in this case, Vanadium Grey) with a partially machined face. In addition, the front spoiler is borrowed from the latest 911 GTS. 12 paint colors can be mixed with the grey accent hue, including Cartagena Yellow and Shade Green metallic hues. Alternatively, a package with Gentian Blue accents can be had, replacing all gray accents with blue and making the mirror caps black.
Performance
It’s still the same engine as the base Carrera, so you get 399 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque. This translates to a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds in the coupe and 4.5 seconds for the cabriolet, with nearly identical top speeds of 183 and 182 mph, respectively. Again, there’s no reason to feel guilty for choosing the drop-top, and with a six-speed insteadof the frenetic 992.1 seven-speed transmission, the enjoyment factor should increase even further. Also noteworthy are the walnut ball shifter, H-pattern puddle lights, and 911 Carrera T door sill plates.

Don’t worry – Andreas Preuninger hasn’t approved a hybrid 911 GT model. Not yet, anyway.
Rear-wheel steering is standard, as is the Sport Chrono Package and an auto-blip function that can be deactivated. The Porsche Active Suspension Management gets 911 T-specific damper tuning, and the body of the T sits 10 millimeters lower than a regular Carrera. Front and rear anti-roll bars have also been updated, and Porsche Torque Vectoring is standard. There’s also lightweight glass and less sound deadening like a GT3.
Interior and Pricing
A nice touch is the standard fitment of Sport-Tex seats with a black plaid pattern and embroidered 911 logos. Of course, you can also order 18-way seats or fixed-back carbon fiber buckets, but not the folding buckets of the new GT3. Speaking of seats, the coupe is a two-seater as standard (with rear seats a no-cost option), while the cabriolet gets them as standard. More Gentian Blue accents appear throughout the interior, but the cabin doesn’t shout about things too much. There is another manual transmission logo on the dash, though.
