6 Reasons Why The 2025 RS6 Avant GT Is Audi’s Best Station Wagon Yet

A few years ago, Audi allowed 13 apprentices to design a concept car. These apprentices came from the bodywork, construction mechanics, automotive mechanics, painting, and tooling departments. They came up with the RS6 GTO concept, which debuted in 2020.

The history of the design goes back even further, however. As inspiration, the apprentices used the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO racecar driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck in the 1989 American IMSA Series.

The Avant GT’s extrovert exterior is based on the GTO concept, which borrowed heavily from Stuck’s racing car’s livery. The GTO concept was meant to celebrate 40 years of quattro all-wheel drive, and the press release stated that it was a one-off.

Thankfully, Audi backpedaled a bit and made the interior more user-friendly. Who wants a wagon with a roll cage and six-point harnesses anyway?
