Ford has finally started offering its supercharger upgrade for the S650 generation Mustang GT and Mustang Dark Horse through its in-house tuning arm, Ford Performance. First shown at the 2023 SEMA Show, the supercharger kit amplifies the latest generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine to produce supercar-rivaling power for $9,995.
The supercharger kit for the Mustang GT and Mustang Dark Horse bears the part number M-6066-M8800. When installed, the Coyote V8 can churn out 810 horsepower at 7,500 rpm (when equipped with active exhaust), while torque is rated at 615 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm. Both figures are notably less than what Lethal Performance produced before, which were 807 hp and 635 lb-ft of torque at the wheels – albeit it had a different setup than the kit offered by Ford Performance.
What Does The Package Include?
The Ford Performance supercharger kit comes with a Gen 6 3.0L Whipple Supercharger with an exclusive inverted twin-screw design, a patented dual-pass intercooler, a 92mm throttle body (part number M-9926-M5292), colder spark plugs (part number M-12405-M50A), GT500 port fuel injectors, a Tomahawk calibration delivery tool, and calibration from Ford Performance.
The package doesn’t include a half-shaft upgrade and street-lowering kit, which came with the FP800S kit at the 2023 SEMA Show. However, it comes with the same three-year or 36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or ASE-certified technician and registered on the Ford Performance Parts Tech-line.

Ford Performance isn’t the only one selling the Gen 6 3.0L Whipple Supercharger setup for the Mustang GT and Mustang Dark Horse. Whipple Superchargers itself offers a similar package at a similar price point ($9,995.99 with Whipple Powertrain Warranty) and power output. However, the tuning company offers two stages, with Stage 2 producing up to 855 hp. This is made possible through a 112mm billet throttle body, higher RPMs, increased shift points, and other non-Ford Performance parts used by the tuner.
Of note, both the Ford Performance and Whipple Superchargers setups are not road-legal in California, so you may want to think twice if you’re from the Golden State.
