Porsche Cayenne EV Spy Photos Offer A Glimpse Of The SUV's Interior

We’ve spotted the electric Porsche Cayenne almost more times than we can count. It’s so close to production that Porsche is barely hiding it anymore. The German performance brand even took it to one of the most famous hill climbs in Britain. It ran the Shelsey Walsh Hill Climb, which claims to be the oldest motorsports event in the world that still uses its original course.

The Cayenne electric wasn’t there to look good in its barely-concealing wrap. It was there to go fast, and go fast it did. The Cayenne EV set a new record, running up the (admittedly short) hill climb four seconds quicker than any other SUV. But this post isn’t about how quick the Cayenne was in a race. It’s about something we haven’t seen before. This is our first look at the interior of the new Cayenne, which has little more than some tape over the steering wheel badge to keep it from our prying eyes.

Cayenne EV Won’t Revolutionize Porsche Interiors

Unsurprisingly, the new Cayenne EV’s dash isn’t that much different than the current gas model’s setup. This is Porsche, after all, where things tend to keep a family resemblance for longer than most. There are changes, though, starting with the new digital instrument cluster.

The cluster has no hood, much like the Taycan and the other recent Porsche models. But it seems Porsche made the strange decision to sort of add something like a hood. A few inches behind and above the cluster is something resembling a flying bridge. We’re not sure what that’s for. Maybe you could use it for storage? In any case, it looks more than a little out of place.

Across the rest of the dashboard you’ll find more screens. That’s not really a surprise, but the center display and (probably optional) passenger display are, once again, nearly the same as what you’ll find in a current Cayenne. Other usual suspect features are there, like the analog clock and a fourth screen for the HVAC system. Pleasantly missing are the eight thousand feature control buttons you’ll find around the shift lever of every Cayenne model before this one.

The shifter is on the dash display just like in the Taycan. Buttons for the stability control, suspension settings, and other commonly used functions are up there, too.

The Exterior Is All But Revealed At This Point

This is also the most revealed we’ve seen the new Cayenne. There are only a few small dashes of camouflage hiding the details. The taillights are partially covered, for example. Porsche also insists on using its strange eyespot camouflage around the headlights to fool ~~predators~~ CarBuzz spy photographers. But we know better.

Despite Porsche’s laziest efforts, we can see the real lights. They’re narrow and short, like the lights on the Taycan. The last bit of camo added to the car is a sticker to give the vehicle the look of a grille, but like the lights, it isn’t hiding much.
