Ford has been continually ramping up its US electric vehicle portfolio over the last several years, with models such as the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning leading its charge. American drivers don’t have access to all of its EV products though, with several others being available in other areas of the world. We decided to take a look at the Ford EVs that aren’t sold in the US.
Ford
Ford is one of America’s oldest automakers and one of the oldest in the world, popularized for being the first to effectively mass produce the automobile under Henry Ford with the Ford Model T. In over 120 years, Ford has become a sales leader in a variety of segments, with popular nameplates like the Ford F-150, Transit, and Mustang.

The legendary Capri nameplate, which was attached to a European coupe between 1969 and 1986, was resurrected for 2024 for use on one of the company’s latest EV offerings. While not a two-door coupe like its grandfather, the new Capri takes the shape of a four-door coupe crossover with a choice of two different powertrains utilized from Volkswagen’s MEB EV platform. The standard model comes with a single motor that sends 285 hp to the rear wheels, while the Premium gets a second motor that is fitted to the front axle.
This affords it a handy all-wheel-drive system, while power shoots up to 340 hp. The single-motor car achieves more range, with the long-distance variant able to achieve a combined range of around 390 miles, while the AWD car can be expected to hit 346 miles before it needs a charge. Thanks to the extra grunt and traction though, it can hit 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds. It sits between the Mustang Mach-E and Explorer EV in Ford’s EV lineup, and is sold throughout Europe. It starts from the equivalent of $53,000 when it goes on sale in early 2025.

The Capri’s sibling, the Explorer EV, is also not available for purchase in the US. It is built on the same VW MEB platform as the Capri, though it’s designed to be more of a family bus as opposed to a sportier number like the Capri. As it features the same powertrains, it produces the same power and torque figures as its sister vehicle. The larger and heavier Explorer isn’t as efficient as the Capri though, with the extended-range RWD model capable of a combined range of 374 miles, while the AWD manages 328 miles.

The Blue Oval is taking the stress out of EV ownership.
The Explorer was designed to look like a typical American SUV, and thus has more space inside for families and things than the Capri does. The base Explorer is slightly cheaper than the standard Capri at the equivalent of $49,600, and is offered across the same European market.

The 2025 Puma Gen-E is Ford’s latest EV challenger, and is designed to be the entry-level installment that is ideal for city driving. Unlike the Capri and Explorer, the Puma uses a Ford-designed 43-kWh battery that powers a single front-mounted motor. The Puma replaced the Fiesta in Europe and is Ford’s smallest offering, and the internal combustion-engined models utilize small three or four-cylinder engines, with options of gas or diesel units.
The all-EV Puma promises a zippy 170 hp from its single-motor powertrain, which allows it to sprint to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds. There are two trims available, the Standard and the Premium, the latter sharing the same powertrain but getting more kit. The former is lighter as a result, so it can manage 233 miles on a single charge, while the latter has to make do with 226 miles.

You knew the idea of a smaller Bronco isn’t a new one, though, right?
As the entry-level EV model, it is also set to be the cheapest that Ford offers in Europe. Prices are set to start from $37,000 when it launches in 2025, and it is Ford’s chief hope to establish the success that the old Fiesta had before it was discontinued. The ICE Puma has regularly been its bestseller in Europe too, so there are high hopes for the Gen-E.
Ford E-Transit Custom/Tourneo

While Ford sells the larger 2024 E-Transit in the US, the smaller Custom model is reserved for the European and Chinese markets. The electric version of the model, which is only sold in Europe currently, comes with a choice of two different powertrain options. Both power the rear wheels, with the entry-level unit coming with 135 hp and a maximum range of 202 miles. The more powerful rear-mounted motor comes with 220 hp, though range is reduced to 195 miles as a consequence.
The Customis targeted at workers who don’t need to carry large amounts of equipment, such as electricians. It is also available in Tourneo form, which brings along seating for eight passengers. This makes it ideal for use as a taxi, or for businesses that need to transport people around frequently. It’s pretty expensive though, with even the entry-level model starting from a hefty $57,000.
The E-Transit Courier Is Also Available
The E-Transit Custom isn’t the only special version of the model not available in the US, as the E-Transit Courier is the smallest variant of the van. It is only sold in Europe, and comes with the entry-level 135 hp motor found in the E-Transit Custom. Starting from just over $20,500, the Courier is ideal for light-duty work, such as being a delivery vehicle. Despite containing the same motor as the larger E-Transit Custom, the Courier can only manage a peak range of 186 miles.

The Ranger is the largest pickup truck option available in Europe, with the F-Series range being sold in the Americas only. Ford announced in September 2024 that it would begin offering a plug-in hybrid version of the truck for Europe, with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder being mated to a single 75 kW electric motor. This powerplant sends a total of 275 hp to all four wheels, and because it is a plug-in, it can be driven on pure EV power when the battery has enough charge.
The Ranger can travel around 27 miles on electricity, which will help save fuel when traveling through built-up areas like cities. Like on the Transit range, the Ranger also comes with the option of a Pro Power Onboard system. This uses the power from the vehicle’s battery to run other appliances, so workers can power multiple tools directly from their vehicle if needed. For those without a portable generator, this could prove to be immensely useful.

The Equator is a full-size SUV that is only offered for the Chinese market. Ford builds the Equator in partnership with Chinese manufacturer Jiangling, and has recently begun offering a plug-in hybrid version of the model. It comes with seating for nine people, and also gets bespoke styling that sets it apart from the rest of the Equator range. It comes with a smoother and narrower nose, as well as a lower roofline, to help reduce drag.
As far as its powerplant goes, a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit works with a front-mounted motor to power the front wheels. Combined power is a handy 368 hp, and it can travel 749 miles when the two components work together. When the EV unit is used in isolation, the Equator PHEV can manage 68 miles before the battery needs a boost.
