Dust and cobwebs will disappear if you have 1 natural item in your home

Homes can always seem to be coated in dust as the weather gets colder outside, but there is a simple way to stop grime from settling on surfaces, so you do not have to clean all the time. In September, people begin to spend more time indoors which means we are shedding even more fabric fibres, dead skin cells and hair, which are the most common contributors to dust.

All of these particles build up in the air, and with windows closed more often in autumn, dust starts to accumulate instead of being carried out by fresh air. If you are not dusting your home regularly, then the air inside your home will be stuffy and uncomfortable, but dust can also provide a food source for many pests like dust mites, silverfish or even cockroaches.

However, the experts at Mesh Maids have shared there is an almost effortless way to keep dust out of your home, as all you need are certain houseplants.

They said: “Houseplants are perhaps the most popular and visually appealing natural air purifiers. They absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and filter harmful toxins.”

How do houseplants keep dust out of homes?

Many tropical houseplants grow on the floor of rainforests where their access to water is limited due to the broad-leaved trees, and have adapted to take some moisture out of the air.

This means they will also absorb airborne particles like dust and break them down, purifying the air in a home to make it less dusty.

These plants also prevent dust as they make the surrounding air humid, which cause dust particles to become heavier and settle on the ground rather than cling to surfaces, making it easier to see and vacuum away.

What are the best air-purifying plants?

Snake plants are known for their tall leaves with striking patterns, and require little sunlight or water, so are perfect for any beginner houseplant owners. The expert added: “Hardy and low-maintenance, great for bedrooms.”

If you want a more beautiful plant, then peace lilies are known both for their elegant white flowers and air filtering abilities.

Peace lilies need more warmth and humidity, so they tend to be a good plant to put in kitchens or bathrooms, as they can absorb the leftover steam in these rooms.

Aloe vera plants are really practical to have in your home as they not only purify the air and trap dust, but their leaves are known for their skin soothing properties. They need to be placed in a room with plenty on sunlight, so will thrive in a sunny spot in your living room.

Tropical houseplants naturally purify the air and reduce dust, making it easier to keep your home fresh and clean this autumn with no extra work required.
