Ford Lowers Some F-150 Prices By Cutting Out The Good Stuff

Instead of the usual big announcement, Ford revealed pricing for its 2025 F-150 pickups by simply adding them to its website. The trucks showed up earlier this week on the online configurator with one big surprise we haven’t seen in a long time: The 2025 Ford F-150 is cheaper than it was last year, at least for buyers in the middle ranges of the lineup who are fine missing out on some of last year’s truck’s best features. Entry and top-spec buyers will get the usual price increases.

A 2025 F-150 STX starts from $42,915 plus destination, which is $1,185 less than in 2024. Ford isn’t just giving things away, though. The truck does come with a bit less equipment than it did last year. For a start, the 20-inch wheels have been replaced with smaller 18-inch ones on 4×2 trucks.

Up To $2,235 Less For XLT, $1,185 For STX

We’ll note that it’s difficult to spot exactly what the content changes are, because Ford doesn’t seem entirely sure itself. The 2025 STX model clearly lists and photographs its 18-inch wheels, but the detailed section of the page mentions that it comes with 17 or 20-inch tires. You don’t have to be a tire changer to know that won’t work.

The 2025 Ford F-150 XLT has a bigger drop. It starts from $45,595, down $2,235 from last year. Just like the STX, it comes from less stuff. 17-inch wheels on 4×2 models, the loss of the SecuriCode keyless entry pad as standard, a power driver’s seat, and, more importantly for truck buyers, the loss of 360-degree camera views and Ford’s excellent Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Hitch Assist. Some of those features can be added back on through the $1,585 301A equipment group. The camera views and trailer assist, though, are gone for good.

The feature is less popular than it once was, but it still feels unfair to have to pay for something that was always included.

Lariat starts from $63,260, down the same $2,235 as XLT. Many of the same changes, like smaller 18-inch wheels instead of 20s, apply. The Lariat trim also loses its leather seats in place of ActiveX synthetic. It also loses rain-sensing wipers, a leather wheel, power-adjust pedals, B&O audio, and a power-sliding rear window. At least it keeps heated and ventilated front seats.

For $2,760 you can add most of that back on. The leather seats are still gone, though. The 502A High Equipment Group is also available for $7,725 and includes that re-added equipment plus a head-up display and the mobile office package.

Base XL models climb $1,645 to $38,345. They don’t appear to lose any equipment, but they don’t gain any either. Tremor models climb a small $365 to $66,810 (the Raptor gets the same hike, to $80,900).

King Ranch and Platinum, Ford’s premium trucks, see their prices climb $860. Both start from $74,805 and come with one year of BlueCruise, which was previously only offered as a $2,100 option with three years service. Platinum Plus, which included 22-inch wheels, power steps, quilted leather, and a VIN badge on the center console, is missing from the 2025 model year truck. Ford hasn’t yet announced pricing for the electric F-150 Lightning. It is currently in a production pause, so we’re not expecting that info to come until the end of the year.
