Lucid Sets Up R&D Hub On The Big Three’s Doorstep

“This is exactly the kind of company we want to add to our automotive and mobility sector. As they innovate, they will grow, expand their footprint, create more jobs, and attract other innovators, strengthening our position as the Global Epicenter of Mobility,” said Maureen Donohue Krauss, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Partnership.

Lucid is expanding its Advanced Manufacturing Plant in Arizona in preparation for the Gravity SUV. As part of the upgrades, the all-American automaker will add a new three-million sq ft warehouse and manufacturing plant to house a new assembly line and upgraded body and paint shops.

The automaker plans on producing just 9,000 vehicles this year, a minor increase from the 8,428 cars it produced for 2023. With the high-performance Sapphire on the way and more affordable Air models, demand will likely soar in 2024.
