PAK vs AUS: “Shan Masood Is Doing Great…” – Mohammad Amir After Pakistan’s Dismal Outing In Australia

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir opened up about the loss the team suffered in the Test series against Australia. He said that even though Shan Masood’s army lost the series, they should learn from it and added that the skipper is doing a great job.

Pakistan suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia in the Test series. Their disappointing run down under continued as they lost their 17th consecutive Test. It’s been more than three decades since the Shan Masood-led side won the series in Australia and had a great opportunity this time.

But it wasn’t meant to be as they suffered another disappointing series loss. Ahead of the series against Australia, Pakistan had appointed a new skipper in Shan Masood and it was expected that they would put up a better performance.

Pakistan produced a decent performance this time around. They even outplayed Australia at crucial stages but they only had themselves to blame as they failed to cash on the opportunities they got and couldn’t hold on to the momentum they had.

Pakistan suffered a thrashing loss in Perth as Australia thumped them by 369 runs. In the second Test in Melbourne, they put Australia under pressure and were about to chase the target but lost the game by 79 runs. The Sydney Test gave real hope to fans as they were ahead of the opposition but suffered a terrible collapse and lost the game by 8 wickets.

Mohammad Amir looked at the positives of the team despite the loss. Apart from urging people to back Shan Masood, he also lauded Aamer Jamal for his sensational performances. Taking to his X account, he stated:

“Winning and losing is all part of the game! We may have lost the cricket series against Australia, but let’s learn from it and come back stronger. Shan Masood is doing great, so let’s back him up. Amir Jamal was brilliant, and we should appreciate his efforts!”

Aamer Jamal was one of the main reasons why Pakistan put Australia under pressure at times. He turned up big time and contributed equally well with both bat as well as the ball. The pacer picked 18 wickets and also scored 143 runs, because of which he won the Player of the Match award in third Test.

AUS vs PAK: We are learning things the hard way – Shan Masood

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood opened up about the series loss against Australia. He admitted that they made mistakes and the opposition cashed on that. The captain added that they are learning things the hard way. Speaking after the match, he explained:

“A bit similar to Melbourne. We are learning things the hard way. We have to look at a lot of positives. When we’re facing Australia in their conditions, there’s going to be a response like yesterday. They went searching for wickets and they are quality bowlers. We made a few mistakes which left the gate open and they made full use of it.”

Shan Masood further added that his side needs cash on the opportunities and then only they can improve. He hoped that they would put up a better performance in the series against Bangladesh. He added:

“If we can make those little improvements, grab onto those chances, make those fifties into hundreds, convert those three fers into fifers, little improvements. If we can take it forward with us, we’ve got 10 months to play our next Test match, so plenty of time for the players to go back and reapply themselves. Hopefully, when we get together as a squad in August to play Bangladesh, we can continue playing cricket the same way.”

Pakistan will now play Test cricket in August later this year. They will be playing a series against Bangladesh and will be hoping to make a comeback.
