Still, the price for the super hatch is pretty steep at €155,000, which comes to $175,923.43 at the time of writing. That kind of money could buy you a 1,000-horsepower Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 or a 530-horsepower Porsche 911 GTS.

How To Get One, And When It Will Be Available
The overall price is fairly high, and so is the fee to reserve a Renault 5 Turbo 3E. Customers will need to put down €50,000, or about $57,000, to ensure they get one. On the plus side, this money will be deducted from the final price, so it’s more like a huge down payment. Renault also says that these initial payments will help pay to get production going. Assuming the company is able to get all 1,980 examples reserved up front with those down payments, it could raise €99,000,000, or around $112,000,000.
Assuming you have the cash to reserve and eventually buy one of these Renaults, you can go to your region’s Renault website and fill out the reservation form, after which you’ll be able to go to a local dealer to make the payment and finalize some other details. Renault expects customers will be able to then configure their vehicles next year, and they’ll have the opportunity to pick or create all kinds of unique colors and liveries for both the exterior and interior. Deliveries will then start arriving in 2027.
A Unique And Powerful Machine
We’ve already discussed the fact that the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is a limited-run car, but it’s more than that. The car was primarily developed by Alpine, the French automaker’s sports car subsidiary responsible for the Alpine A110. Unlike the regular 5, the Turbo 3E is rear-wheel-drive and packs 536 horsepower from a pair of motors. These will allow for fancy torque-vectoring, in addition to launching the car to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 168 mph. It only has two doors and two seats, despite actually being larger, and due to the generous use of carbon fiber, it weighs about the same as the smaller, standard 5. It even has more battery capacity at 70-kWh. So, although the Renault is pricey, you are getting a ferocious little car that very few people will get to experience.
