Volvo In No Rush To Phase Out XC90, XC60 And S90

In preparation for the transition, Volvo has tapped Aurobay to work on its combustion engines while the Swedish automaker focuses on developing EV powertrains. The diesel range, which was introduced into the brand back in 1979, was discontinued last year.

Volvo has yet to detail its new hybrid program. However, the automaker said improvements on the exterior styling, interior design, and infotainment are in the pipeline for the upcoming planned hybrids.

“So yes, for some of the key PHEV/MHEV cars, we’ll make those investments, we’ll come back to you on which cars and at what time, but clearly they will continue to play a very important, complementary role in our portfolio.”
