The Rolls-Royce Spectre made its American debut during Monterey Car Week in 2023, and at the time, the Goodwood-based automaker had already indicated that a Black Badge variant was not a priority. But since then, driving data and customer requests have indicated that such a vehicle would be a worthwhile project for the company, so here it is. The regular Rolls-Royce Spectre makes 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, but in Black Badge guise, the all-electric luxury coupe becomes Rolls-Royce’s most powerful car ever, delivering 659 hp and 792 lb-ft of torque. As a Roller, it still needs to offer a dignified experience as much as an exciting one, so Rolls-Royce has come up with some clever ideas.
Infinity Mode And Spirited Mode
The Black Badge logo is an infinity symbol, and this now appears on the steering wheel. When pressed, the driver gets access to all 659 ponies with more direct throttle response. At the same time, the digital display’s dials become “more vibrant.” Spirited Mode is basically a launch control function, providing “a burst of intense, instantaneous acceleration,” says Rolls-Royce. With this active, all 792 lb-ft of twist is available, enabling 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds, three-tenths quicker than the regular Spectre. Top speed remains unchanged at 155. But the car will also feel special in other ways.

Rolls-Royce has increased the weight of the steering, adjusted the roll stabilization parameters to generate more feedback to the driver’s hands while reducing body roll, and upgraded the dampers for less pitch and dive during acceleration and deceleration. Since most drivers of the regular Spectre were reportedly only ever using full power for short bursts, these changes are just right for the character of the car, which is still expected to drive like its on air. Naturally, customers of such a car will want to stand out, so a slew of cosmetic changes have been made too.
